Uncomfortable Conversations: Through the Lens of Christ

When race, politics, or nationality become the lens through which we see Christ, we lose sight of truth. Here's why seeing life through Christ changes everything.
Let’s keep it 100 — far too many people are trying to mold Christ into the image of their own culture, politics, or background.
They make Jesus a nationalist. They make Jesus a political mascot. They make Jesus fit their experience instead of surrendering to His truth.
But here’s the hard truth:
If you view Christ through the lens of anything else, you're not seeing Christ — you're seeing an idol of your own making. And you are outside of the Will of God.
When you view Christ through the lens of your race, you are blinded to the diversity of God's people.
When you view Christ through the lens of your political ideology, you are blinded to the command of God.
When you view Christ through the lens of your nationality, you are blinded to the sovereignty of God over all creation.
When you try and see Christ through the lens of your experience, you can find yourself walking by sight. Then you will find yourself walking in carnality instead of walking by the Holy Spirit.
The danger of looking through any lens other than that of Christ is that you miss the heart of God.
If you are putting any of these things over Christ, you are walking in idolatry.
But when you view these things — race, politics, nationality — through the lens of Christ and His Word, everything changes.
You see how to love your neighbor. You learn how to walk in compassion, respect, empathy, and patience. You begin to navigate the complexity of cultures and perspectives — not with fear or pride, but with a Kingdom mindset.
"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus." (Galatians 3:28, NKJV)
"And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us." (Acts 17:26–27, NKJV)
We were never called to filter Christ through culture — we were called to be transformed by Christ in the midst of culture.
The lens matters.
Let Christ be yours.
Remember to strive to walk in God's truth, even when it says you're a liar."Let God be true but every man a liar." (Romans 3:4, NKJV)
